World Best Selling Car ranking in the 2018 was led again by the Toyota Corolla, while the Toyota RAV4 gained the second position, after a tough fight with the Honda Civic. The Jeep Compass & Wrangler are among the fastest growing models.
Global Market Trend
The Global light vehicles market in 2018 has kept the positive trend of previous years up 0.2% – ending the year with registrations at 95.6 million.
The first half of the year has been highly performing, projecting the market to the achievement of the milestone of 100 million vehicles in a single year. However, the second part of the year was affected by the WLTP introduction in Europe – where sales fluctuated losing 10.6% in September – and worsened due to Chinese crisis.
The Top 100 Models Ranking
The competition among the best vehicles sold in the World, in the 2017 was focused by the astonishing escalade of the Ford F-Series, advanced in second place, first time above 1 million units, as reported in the focus2move official report, Best Selling Cars Ranking 2017, We will keep on track single segment performance, in thereports by segments section, but here we report on the total light vehicles sales.
In the 2018 ranking, the Toyota Corolla (all versions) is again on top with 1.181.445 units sold, down 1.7%. It is followed by the Ford F-Series with 1.080.757 sales (+0.4%) which in recent months was running slow.
The battle for the third place was harsh with the best compact and the best SUV in the World divided by few units.
Actually third is the the Toyota RAV4 with 837.624 units (+3.6%) and the fourth is the Honda Civic with 823.169 units (+0.7%).
Losing two spots from the previous year and 8.4%, the dominator of European market, the Volkswagen Tiguan is fifth with 791.275 sales (+8.6%).
In sixth place, losing three spots from the previous year and 10.3%, the Volkswagen Golf with 789.519 units followed in seventh place by the Honda CR-Vwith 747.646 sales (-1.5%).
In eight place the Volkswagen Polo with 725463 (+11.3%), the Toyota Camry with 661.383 (+3.8%) and in 10th place the Chevrolet Silverado with 651.090 (-1.4%).
